Screened Railings and Access Gates for Ragdale Hall

Ragdale Hall was built in 1785 and sits in a beautiful, rural hamlet that nestles in the heart of the rolling Leicestershire countryside. Since its transformation from a private residence into Ragdale Hall Health Hydro in 1973, it has garnered a firm reputation as one of the best-known health farms in the UK. It hosts luxurious accommodation and facilities including a thermal spa, five pools, the Mind Gym, a beauty salon and shop, a hair studio and dining room.

Ragdale Hall is currently undergoing expansion and development of their site and we were asked to help create a solution for a problematic area of the property. To get to the lake, clients had to walk past the back of the kitchens, an area primarily used for deliveries and storage. In contrast to the rest of the Hall, it was a bit of an eyesore and it was decided that it would be best for it to be screened off to make it more aesthetically pleasing and to reduce the noise from the kitchens. The area did, however, still require vehicle and pedestrian access to retain its essential functionality.

As Ragdale Hall is a building with Victorian architecture, it was important that the installation was sympathetically designed to sit alongside the traditional exterior. We are highly experienced in working with our clients to ensure that their ideal aesthetic is achieved and collaborated with Ragdale Hall to create the perfect solution. After conducting a site assessment, we recommended installing screened railings, two large driveway gates and a side pedestrian gate to ensure that the area was out of view yet vehicles and staff would still be able to access the area safely and securely.

During our discussions surrounding the desired style of the new gates, Ragdale Hall suggested a louvre effect for the panels – a sleek, solid and contemporary choice that would provide the complete privacy that was required for the area in question. To maintain a pleasant, uniform aesthetic, the colour of the new gates needed to match the deep graphite grey colour of the conservatory, so we ensured that the right shade was carefully matched.

It was important that the installation phase didn’t cause disruption to the guests, the day-to-day running of the Hall or the other ongoing renovations. Our installation team have over 20 years of experience and are skilled in ensuring that installations are conducted smoothly, safely and on schedule, which is exactly how this installation progressed.

The finished product has proven to be an ideal solution for Ragdale Hall’s needs, meeting all of the access, aesthetic and privacy requirements of the original brief.
