Garden Gates
For customers looking for a more private and secure pedestrian gate, our metal-framed, wood-lined designs could be the answer. The metal framework is manufactured from 40mm rolled-hollow-section and 40mm cross members and provides a non-warping and extremely robust structure. As with all of our ironwork, it will be manufactured to your specific requirements, following which it will be hot-dip galvanised to prevent rust and then top-coated in a colour of your choice.
We are able to offer many varieties of wood for this design of gate, all in a robust 20mm thick tongue and groove. The choices range from a Scandinavian softwood which is ready to accept paint or stain, to Fraké, a semi-hardwood that has been thermally modified. This gives the wood have extremely high water repelling properties, which minimises expansion and contraction during the seasons, meaning Fraké does not require any further treatment. However, a clear or coloured UV protector or wood stain is recommended to prevent discolouration and silvering.

Our wood lined garden gates are available in a range of flat top or bow top designs.
For all of our wood-lined garden gates, we recommend a UV protection or wood stain to be applied to prevent discolouration and preserve the original aesthetic appearance of your gate.
However, when the wood is coupled with the galvanised and coated metal framework, it creates an extremely low maintenance gate - all of our galvanised metal comes with a 10 year guarantee against rust. It is important to note, however, that as wood is a natural material, movement, swelling and contracting are normal occurrences. All timbers have natural marks such as knots, shakes and resin pockets. These will be kept to a minimum in the finished product but some are unavoidable.
For those concerned about the upkeep of wood, we also offer the choice of synthetic wood, which is made from a recycled composite material. Synthetic wood has a very long life span and benefits from a virtually maintenance free finish alongside the galvanised metalwork.
